Franchise Website Design

Franchise website design that works for every location

We design and build franchise websites that do two jobs: send local customers to the right location, and give prospective franchisees what they need before they inquire. One brand site, a real page for every unit, and editing roles that keep the brand consistent as you add locations.

Quick answer

What is franchise web design?

Franchise web design is planning and building one brand website for two audiences: customers looking for a nearby location, and prospective franchisees evaluating the opportunity. A good franchise website gives every location its own useful page on the brand’s domain, includes a recruitment section whose claims are approved by the franchisor’s attorney, and lets franchisees update local details without changing the brand.

Who it's for

Who we build franchise websites for

The right website depends on where your franchise system is today. Most projects start from one of these three situations.

01

Emerging franchisors

You have a few units and are about to sell your first franchises. The priority is a credible brand site and a recruitment section that answers investor questions, built so new location pages can be added as units open.

02

Growing franchise systems

You have dozens or hundreds of locations, location pages that look alike and franchisees asking to edit them. The priority is a location page system, clear editing roles and lead routing.

03

Brands replacing a site or platform

You are leaving a dated build or a proprietary platform. The priority is moving content and URLs without losing the rankings and reviews you already have.

One website, two audiences

One website. Two very different visitors.

A franchise website is not a small business website with more pages. It has to rank every location in local search, keep the brand identical across hundreds of units, and convince people with serious capital that your system is worth investing in.

Location pages

What every location page needs to rank and convert

Google’s spam policies treat near-identical pages built for different cities as doorway pages. A location page earns its place only when it tells a nearby customer something no other page does, so every location page we build has its own fields for the six things below.

Each location’s Google Business Profile links to its own page, as Google’s guidelines expect. How location pages rank over time is part of our franchise SEO service.

01

A genuinely local introduction

Written for that town and that team, never a template with the city name swapped in.

02

Name, address, phone and hours

Identical to the location’s Google Business Profile, and updated by the owner.

03

The area the location serves

Neighborhoods, ZIP codes and a map, so customers know they are in range.

04

Local people and recent reviews

The strongest proof a nearby customer can see before they call, kept fresh with review management.

05

One clear next step

Call, book or get directions, with every lead tracked to the location.

06

Structured data

LocalBusiness markup that helps search engines understand each location.

Governance

Who can edit what

We design the structure first: how the brand site, location pages and recruitment section connect, who can edit what, and how every inquiry reaches the right person. The visual design then follows the content, not the other way around. Franchisees keep their pages current; corporate protects the brand and the legal copy.

Franchise opportunity

Recruitment pages your attorney can approve

Your franchise opportunity pages are advertising for the sale of a franchise, so they carry legal risk that a normal service website does not. We build them to answer an investor’s questions without making claims your Franchise Disclosure Document doesn’t support.

Fransion is a marketing firm. We don’t give legal advice or write legal documents; that work stays with your own franchise attorney. The campaigns that bring candidates to these pages are part of franchise lead generation.

01

Earnings claims

Under the FTC Franchise Rule, a financial performance representation needs a reasonable basis, written substantiation and a place in Item 19 of your FDD. We publish revenue figures, profit examples or ROI calculators only when your attorney confirms they match Item 19.

02

Registration states

Some states require franchise advertising to be filed before it runs. Your attorney confirms which rules apply to your brand.

03

Locked disclaimers

The offer disclaimer and state notices your attorney provides sit in a site-wide component that franchisees and regional teams cannot edit.

04

Approval before launch

Recruitment copy goes to your attorney before launch and before any material change.

Leads and locations

Where every lead goes, and what happens when locations change

Every call and form is tagged with the location and the source it came from, then routed by rules we agree with you before the build. Customer inquiries go to the location that serves that ZIP code or territory. Franchise inquiries go to your development team, never to franchisees.

We connect the CRM and call tracking tools you already use, such as Salesforce, HubSpot or FranConnect for leads and CallRail or CallTrackingMetrics for calls. Corporate sees every lead in one location-level report, and each owner sees their own.

01

A location opens

The page is built from the template, added to the location finder, sitemap and structured data, and linked from the new Google Business Profile.

02

A location changes hands

The page and its URL stay. Owner details, team and lead routing change, so rankings and reviews carry over to the new owner.

03

A location closes

The page comes down, its URL redirects to the nearest location or the finder, and routing stops sending leads to it.

04

Territory gaps

We decide in advance where leads go when a ZIP code sits between two territories or an area has no open location.

Built to perform

Fast, accessible and ready to rank from day one

Google measures page experience with three Core Web Vitals. These are the thresholds for a good score, and what usually breaks them on franchise sites.

2.5 s

Largest Contentful Paint

Target: main content loads within 2.5 seconds, even on a phone.

200 ms

Interaction to Next Paint

Target: under 200 milliseconds to respond to a tap or click.

0.1

Cumulative Layout Shift

Target: under 0.1, so nothing jumps around while the page loads.

AA

WCAG 2.2 accessibility

Designed to WCAG 2.2 level AA and checked with UserWay: contrast, keyboard use, labels and alt text.

Targets as published by Google Search Central.

Site structure

One franchise website or separate location websites?

Most franchise brands rank and convert better with one site. Location pages live in folders on your main domain, for example /locations/denver/, so every unit benefits from the brand’s authority. Franchisees running their own separate sites is a common cause of off-brand pages and duplicate listings, and a strong location page gives them a better option.

Some brands put the franchise opportunity on its own domain. We usually keep it on the main site so it shares the brand’s authority, unless your development team needs a separate site for campaign or compliance reasons.

Avoid these

Six franchise website mistakes that cost leads

Each of these is common, and each one is avoidable at the design stage.

1

Thin, duplicate location pages

Pages that differ only by city name rarely rank and give customers no reason to choose that location.

How we prevent it: Each page has local fields for team, services, reviews and area served.

2

Recruitment as an afterthought

A single “Own a franchise” page cannot answer an investor’s questions.

How we prevent it: A dedicated recruitment section with its own path and form.

3

Franchisees editing the brand

Unrestricted access leads to off-brand pages and non-compliant claims.

How we prevent it: Role-based permissions and locked brand components.

4

Losing rankings in a redesign

Changing URLs without redirects throws away years of search authority.

How we prevent it: A full redirect map and post-launch monitoring.

5

Leads that reach nobody

Forms sent to one inbox delay responses and lose sales.

How we prevent it: Routing by location and lead type, with tracking.

6

Earnings claims on recruitment pages

Revenue figures, “top owners earn” stories or ROI calculators that Item 19 doesn’t support create legal risk for the franchisor.

How we prevent it: No financial figures unless they match Item 19 and your attorney approves them.

Franchise website design questions

How much does a franchise website cost?

It depends on the number of templates, locations and integrations. We scope every project after a free consultation and give you a fixed price and timeline.

Most franchise websites launch in 3 to 6 weeks. Large location counts, complex integrations or content that isn’t ready yet can extend that.

Usually not. One brand site with a strong page for each location shares search authority, keeps the brand consistent and is easier to maintain.

Brand and service pages, a location finder, a page for every location, a franchise opportunity section with a qualifying form, and analytics that track leads by location.

Yes. Owners can update approved fields such as hours, photos, team and offers, while design, brand elements and legal copy stay locked.

Not if the migration is planned. We map every old URL, set 301 redirects, carry over metadata and monitor Search Console after launch.

Yes. We design to WCAG 2.2 level AA, covering color contrast, keyboard navigation, form labels and alt text, and check the site with UserWay before launch.

We build on WordPress with Elementor. Franchisees get their own logins and can edit only their location’s approved fields, while templates, brand components and legal copy stay locked.

We connect the tools you already use. Common ones include Salesforce, HubSpot and FranConnect for leads, and CallRail or CallTrackingMetrics for call tracking.

If the location is sold, the page and URL stay and we update the owner, team and lead routing, so its rankings and reviews carry over. If it closes, we redirect the URL to the nearest location and stop routing leads to it.

No. Your franchise attorney provides the disclaimers and approves the recruitment copy. We build the pages so that approved wording sits in locked components that nobody else can change.

You do. The domain, design, code and content belong to you.
